Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Foundation and Two Way Cake Review

IMGP9427

Hello there! Finally I was able to edit and now sharing with you the much awaited and most requested review for this year, the Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Air Whipped Liquid Foundation and Ultra Breathable Satin Two Way Cake.

Maybelline has been one of my favorite drugstore brand, widely available in most department stores and budget-friendly (at least most of the products are).  What I like most about Maybelline is that they always have discounted/introductory prices or freebies if you buy a certain product.  I bought the Satin Skin Foundation and Two Way Cake for 748 pesos only, less 150 pesos!

Regular price is 499 pesos for the Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Foundation and 399 pesos for the Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Ultra Breathable Satin Two Way Cake.

Starting off with the foundation, Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Air Whipped Liquid Foundation claims to provide poreless satin smooth-looking skin, extraordinary coverage that  does not clog pores, long lasting and moisturizing all day.

It comes in a glass container but with a pump so that’s a plus.

The consistency is thick but creamy.  Right off the bat you can see that this foundation is yellowish, great for people with a yellow under tone.

The shade I got is B2, by the way this foundation comes in 7 shades.

It blends well onto the skin and application is a breeze with a foundation brush.  It has some dewiness to it which makes the face look healthy.  If you are looking for the equal amount of matte and dewiness in a foundation then you might want to try this because it does provide a satin finish which gives you the best of both worlds.

Coverage is medium to full depending on application, you can add another layer if you want to get the most coverage.  It actually reminded me of the Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation which I find a bit thicker but coverage is the same.  Dream Satin is very lightweight considering how great the coverage is.

I used Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Two Way Cake to set the foundation which I later discovered to be counterproductive.

It gives a matte finish thus covering the satin finish of the foundation.  It is ultra thin but the coverage is amazing!

I got the shade B4 by the way, at first I thought it was too dark for me but when applied it actually is lighter. This one comes in 5 different shades.  Packaging is the same as the White Super Fresh powder, only difference is this one is in beige color.  And oh, the engraved Maybelline New York logo on the cover.  By the way, you can use this with a wet/damp sponge or dry.  On this review I used it dry.

What I did not like is the white cast when I took a photo with flash.  I believe this is because of the two way cake, but then again both foundation and two way cake has SPF.  The foundation has SPF 24 while the two way cake has SPF 32.

After almost 7 hours, the foundation pretty much held up but unfortunately I was oily and shiny. This definitely is not for very oily skin even if the two way cake made my face matte. After a few hours, the shine was uncontrollable.

I highly suggest using a matte primer (try Zero Sebum from Etude House, review HERE) and a mattifying powder if you want it to last longer.

I would still give the Dream Satin Skin Foundation a thumbs up because of the amazing satin finish which made my skin look waaay healthier and younger however, I would not use this on a hot summer day.  If you don’t mind blotting from time to time then this might work for you.

The Dream Satin Ultra Breathable Satin Two Way Cake though is just okay for me, something I can do without.  To be honest I find the Maybelline White Super Fresh and this one almost the same, just different packaging.

Thank you for your time and feel free to share your experience with this product on the comment section below! xx

I really love dream satin foundation. Perfect for me whose skin is slightly dry ! I finally found a powder that works for me. Two thumbs up! The maybelline sales lady recommended the dream satin for dry skin and matrix for oily skin.

It was very helpful to have Whitesuperfresh and Dream satin powders compared because I was really having trouble choosing what to buy between the two!
